Centennial 60, Savanna 51--Trailing, 32-19, at halftime, Savanna (16-11) outscored Centennial, 17-9, in the third quarter and then pulled to within three points in the fourth quarter. But Centennial (11-11), led by Andre Newman (15 points) and Michael Taylor (12 points) held off the rally.
Ben Smith scored 20 points to lead the Rebels and Keith Rodriguez had 11 points and 11 rebounds to help Savanna.
El Dorado 87, Bolsa Grande 48--El Dorado (15-10) used a stifling defense and 19 steals to key their victory. Bolsa Grande missed nine baskets, and made only three in the first quarter. El Dorado took a 29-6 lead and did not allow Bolsa Grande within 20 points the rest of the game.
“We’re peaking right now, which is a good time to do it,” El Dorado Coach Wayne Carlson said. Senior guard Jerome Facione led El Dorado with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Brian Lloyd added 19 points. Bolsa Grande’s Hinh Bui led all scorers with 21 points.
