GIRLS’ ROUNDUP
In the 5-A semifinals:
Buena 51, Ocean View 43--Buena’s third-quarter press allowed Buena (27-0) to stretch a 19-16 halftime lead to a 34-20 lead at Ventura High. Ocean View (26-3) came back in the fourth quarter to close within two points at 38-36. However, Jenny Sullivan fouled out with 2 1/2 minutes left and Ocean View did not threaten after that. Sullivan finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots.
In the 4-A semifinals:
La Quinta 69, Palm Desert 60--Amy Jalewalia scored 26 points and Tanya Krill 20 to lead La Quinta (26-3) at the College of the Desert. The Aztecs led, 20-11, at the end of the first quarter and 39-29 at halftime. Brenda Joyce scored 20 points for Palm Desert (25-3).
