HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Camarillo Puts Aside Adversity in 6-4 Win

Share

Camarillo High’s baseball team eased the pain of an apparent forfeit in the title game of the Westside tournament’s Blue Division with a 6-4 win over Ventura on Tuesday.

The Scorpions violated a new rule that limits a pitcher to 30 outs from Monday through Saturday. Eric Raba pitched 14 innings, or 42 outs, in complete-game tournament wins over Notre Dame on Tuesday and Chatsworth on Saturday.

According to state rules, violation of the rule results in a forfeit. But Southern Section officials Tuesday delayed announcement of the forfeit, pending an appeal. Camarillo Coach Jack Willard admitted Monday that he overlooked the rule and said the Scorpions will not appeal.
