STATE HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS : Atherton Menlo Routs Rosamond in Division V
Laurie Stucker scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds Friday night to lead the Atherton Menlo Knights to a 53-27 victory over Rosamond in the State Division V girls basketball championship game in the Oakland Coliseum Arena.
The victory gave the Knights (27-5) their second consecutive Division V title.
Menlo, which out-rebounded the Roadrunners, 53-27, also got 12 points from Kate Paye, sister of Menlo coach and former Stanford quarterback John Paye.
Rosamond finished at 21-8.
Moraga Campolindo 41, Santa Maria St. Joseph 40--Behind Kim Rubenstein’s 14 points, including six in the fourth quarter, and Kari Sivesind’s 12 points and 12 rebounds, the Cougars (23-12) survived a second half rally by the Knights in Division IV.
Jennifer Anaya led the Knights (28-4) with 14 points and Amy McConnell scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
