COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Still Struggling, Lose to Chapman in Baseball

After winning two of three against UC Irvine last weekend, Cal State Fullerton had its problems with Chapman on Tuesday and lost to the Panthers, 4-1, in a nonconference baseball game at Hart Park in Orange.

Chris Cutliff hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to give Chapman (19-13), the 18th-ranked team in Division II, a 4-0 lead.

The Titans (17-14) scored their only run off starter Dave Paveloff (7-4) in the seventh when Steve Sisco doubled and Frank Charles drove him in with a single.

In nonconference baseball:

UC Irvine 14, University of San Diego 9--Jon Berger went two for two with three RBIs and had a two-run home run for the host Anteaters (23-13).

In Big West Conference softball:

Cal State Fullerton 4-2, Cal Poly Pomona 1-1--The Titans scored four runs in the third inning of the first game at Fullerton, and won the second game in 15 innings.

In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:

Christ College Irvine 3-2, Azusa Pacific 1-3--Michelle Vail (8-8) allowed five hits and had six strikeouts and visiting Christ College scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings in the first game. De Brunk had two triples and three RBIs on the day for Christ College (19-14, 6-4).
