In his first varsity start, Patrick Henry’s Aaron Wauchek went the distance, allowed just five hits, and helped hand previously undefeated and top-ranked Mira Mesa a 3-2 loss, its first of the season in a baseball game at Mira Mesa.

“He did a great job,” Patrick Henry Coach Bob Imlay said of Wauchek, a junior. “He’s a very raw talent, but he throws hard and really challenges the hitters.”

With the score tied at two-all, Mira Mesa had a chance to win, with two out, and runners at first and third. But Patriot second baseman John Dutra stopped the potential game-winning hit, with a diving catch on his stomach, to make the final out.
