Boyle and Karich Will Join McKnight at All-Star Game

Gary McKnight, Mater Dei High School basketball coach, will have two players from his State Division I championship team on the roster as he coaches in the Southern Section vs. City boys’ all-star basketball game at 2 p.m. today at the Forum.

Mater Dei’s David Boyle and Andy Karich will be joined on the Southern Section team by Ocean View’s Greg Evans in the sixth all-star game. Other top players on the Southern Section team include Santa Clara’s Shon Tarver, Lynwood’s Earnest Killum and Long Beach Poly’s Willie McGinest.

The girls’ all-star game at noon will feature Brea-Olinda’s backcourt players, Aimee McDaniel and Tammy Blackburn, and La Quinta’s Amy Jalewalia, the top scorer in the state the past two seasons. Morningside’s Lisa Leslie, the Dial Award winner as the top high school female athlete in the nation, will also play.

The City boys and the Southern Section girls have won four of the past five games.
