That’s Life! (CBS Friday at 9 p.m.): In this 1986 film, Blake Edwards, one of America’s masters of movie comedy, takes on some grim subjects: familial strife, decay and mortality, but the results are far from gloomy. This is one of the funniest and perhaps the most life-embracing movies Edwards made in the ‘80s, in which currents of despair give the humor a deeper bite. With Jack Lemmon as an architect on the eve of his 60th birthday and Julie Andrews as his wife; they both play with brilliance, wit and feeling.
