OXNARD : 30-Year-Old Killed by Amtrak Train

A 30-year-old Riverside County man died when he was hit by a passenger train near 5th Street and Pacific Avenue in Oxnard, police said.
David Cruz Vargas of Hemet was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday after he was struck by an Amtrak train headed to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles, police officials said. He apparently died of head injuries.
Police said it is unclear how Vargas came to be hit by the train, which was moving no faster than 30 m.p.h.
