COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Sisco Homers and Fullerton Stops San Jose

Steve Sisco had two hits, including his fifth home run, to help Cal State Fullerton beat San Jose State, 10-3, in a Big West Conference baseball game Friday at San Jose.

Fullerton (31-20, 12-4 in conference) maintained a half-game lead over second-place Fresno State in the conference race. Fresno State defeated UC Santa Barbara, 12-7, Friday.

Fullerton scored two runs in each of the first two innings and added a run in the third to build a 5-0 lead. The Titans added a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to chase San Jose starter and loser David Tellers (11-5). San Jose is 42-16, 8-11.

Phil Nevin had four hits and Dave Ayala had two hits and two RBIs for Fullerton. James Popoff (10-4) pitched a 10-hitter for the victory.

In another Big West Conference game:

UC Irvine 8, Nevada Las Vegas 6 (10 innings)--Ray Walker had an RBI single and Jon Damush had an RBI groundout for Irvine (32-25, 8-11) in the 10th inning. Joe Sewell (3-3) pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief for the victory.

Damush had two hits and three RBIs for Irvine.

In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball:

Cal Poly Pomona 3, Chapman 2--Cal Poly Pomona scored in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie. Visiting Chapman dropped to 32-20, 18-11.
