SOUTHERN SECTION 3-A SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS

Mayfair 7, Woodbridge 0--Visiting Mayfair (17-11) scored three in each of the first and second innings and Stacy VanEssen pitched a two-hitter, striking out six. Woodbridge finished at 17-11.

Trabuco Hills 7, Montclair 1--Christy Lunceford had four hits, including a home run and double, and had four RBIs to lead host Trabuco Hills (20-8). Brianna Burkman allowed three hits and three walks in six innings and was supported by Trabuco Hills’ 14 hits.

South Torrance 1, Capistrano Valley 0--South Torrance scored on a dropped fly ball and a wild throw to the plate in the sixth inning with two outs. Capistrano Valley (15-11) was led by freshman Daniela Hugelshofer, who pitched three scoreless innings and Jennifer Smith, who finished the game and struck out four but allowed an infield single that eventually scored.
