Man Dies When Woman Steps on Gas by Mistake
A 24-year old North Hollywood man was killed Tuesday morning while sitting in front of a convenience store when a young woman accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal while trying to park her car, Los Angeles police reported.
Roman Gudino was killed as he sat in front of the Lankershim Boulevard store with a cold drink, Officer Bill Mulvihill said.
Mulvihill said the driver, Eva Hernandez Olivo, 22, of Sun Valley was attempting to park in the store’s lot when she hit the gas pedal and her car struck Gudino.
Olivo fled but was arrested later after her husband notified police of her involvement in the accident, Mulvihill said.
Olivo was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, the officer reported.
