Behind the double winning efforts of Jackie Foreman and Rosetta Hunter, the Locke High School girls’ track and field team won its seventh consecutive City team title Thursday night at Birmingham High School.

With Foreman winning the 100- and 300-meter low hurdles and Hunter winning the 1,600 and 3,200 meters for the second consecutive year, the Saints outscored Dorsey, 104-70, for the team championship.

“There was no way we were going to lose the title this year,” Foreman said, who was aided in the 300-meter low hurdles when the leader, Dorsey’s Cristal Lewis, fell over the last hurdle.

Behind its outstanding trio of Burks, Jason Goss and Sylvester Green, Washington received 58 points from its individual and sprint relay efforts.

Dorsey’s Lamont Warren won the boys’ 400 meters in 47.72 seconds, defeating fellow juniors Ruben Benitez of Woodland Hills Taft and John Floyd of Locke. Warren also anchored Dorsey’s victorious 1,600-meter relay team.
