SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Don Keeter of Ventura and Lynn Brader of Somis exchanged leads frequently in the 15-lap Street Stock main event at Ventura Raceway on Friday night before Keeter held on to win by a half-car length.

After two re-starts and numerous yellow flags, Brader and Keeter launched their duel. Brader held the lead through eight laps before Keeter took the lead on Lap 9 when Brader went high in Turn 2. Brader powered ahead in the front straightaway on Lap 10, however. Brader went high again in Turn 2 on the final lap, allowing Keeter to take a slight lead before both cars bumped and slid in Turn 4, with Keeter nosing out Brader at the finish line for his third main-event win of the season.

Mini Stock figure-eight season points leader Richard Webster of Camarillo and Cory Kruseman of Ventura battled the entire way for the checkered flag in the 10-lap main event.

Mini Stock eight-lap heat-race winners were Bingham, Pat Garrety of Ventura, and Marty Desbrow of Ventura.
