Four South Bay prep standouts have been named to All-L.A. City Section baseball teams by the First Interstate Bank-Amateur Athletic Foundation board of sportswriters.
Pitcher Mike Busby and third baseman Julian Pardo of Banning High and Carson shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez were selected to the 4-A Division squad. Narbonne shortstop Paco Cervantes was named to the 3-A team.
Busby, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior, was 9-4 with a 1.45 earned-run average. The right-hander led the South Bay with 127 strikeouts in 92 innings and was named Pacific League most valuable player.
Pardo was the leading hitter for Pacific League champion Banning. The senior batted .466 (41 for 88) with 10 doubles, three triples, one home run and 24 runs batted in.
Rodriguez topped Pacific League runner-up Carson in several categories, including batting average (.467), runs scored (28), doubles (six) and RBIs (19). He was also a relief pitcher and two weeks ago was named MVP of the West team in a City Section all-star game.
Cervantes, a junior, paced Southern League runner-up Narbonne with a .385 batting average and a 2-2 pitching record.
Pitcher-infielders Reed McMackin (12-2, .402) of 4-A champion Chatsworth and Patrick Treend (12-1, .375) of runner-up El Camino Real of Woodland Hills were named division co-MVPs.
In the 3-A Division, pitcher Dan Choi (12-1-1) of champion Fairfax and utility man Rene Lopez (.444, 5-1) of Bell were chosen co-MVPs.
Chadwick catcher Todd Seneker has been named to the All-Southern Section Small School Division team.
A three-time All-Prep League selection, Seneker hit .510 (.550 in league play) with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 24 RBIs in 17 games. The 6-1, 180-pound junior threw out 70% of the runners who attempted to steal.
