Job opportunities in the Oxnard/Ventura/Camarillo region will be modest this summer, but the employment outlook is more favorable in Thousand Oaks, according to a new study by Manpower Inc., a major employment services concern.
Manpower said its survey of employers in the area showed that 17% plan to hire more workers this summer, while 10% expect to cut employment and 70% will be unchanged. The remaining 3% were uncertain. The survey indicated that the construction, wholesale and retail trades planned the biggest additions to their staffs.
A year ago, 46% of the businesses surveyed told Manpower that they planned to add workers.
In Thousand Oaks, meanwhile, 27% of the employers answering Manpower’s latest survey said they expect to hire more workers, none saw reductions and 73% plan to stay at present levels.
Manpower’s survey of the greater Los Angeles area showed that 18% of the employers anticipate adding workers, 8% foresee staff cuts and 66% plan no changes.
