A 53-year-old man was in fair condition Tuesday, hours after he navigated his pickup truck to a restaurant to call for help after being shot while driving on the Pomona Freeway, authorities said.

Dwayne Snyder of Riverside was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday after being shot on the left side of his forehead two hours earlier, hospital spokeswoman Laura Elek said.

Snyder had been traveling east on the freeway when at least two shots were fired at him from a maroon car, Detective Mario Estrada said. After being shot, Snyder managed to drive his pickup to the Carl’s Jr. restaurant near the Diamond Bar Boulevard off-ramp, where he called for help, Estrada said.

Snyder told police that no confrontation had ensued between himself and his assailant, Estrada said. Police were searching for the suspect Tuesday.
