Marion Jones of Rio Mesa High, the state champion in the girls’ 100 and 200 meters, will not run in The Athletics Congress Junior Track and Field meet, which will start Thursday in Fresno, because of a stress fracture in her left foot.

Rio Mesa co-Coach Brian FitzGerald said that Jones, who recently completed her freshman year, probably sustained the injury four weeks ago in the state meet, in which she ran with a swollen left ankle that was heavily taped.

Coley Kyman, Ken Lynch and Gary Reznick, who started on the Cal State Northridge men’s volleyball team as freshmen, have been selected to play in the U. S. Olympic Festival in Minneapolis, July 6-15.

Reznick, a setter from Woodland Hills, will play for the West.

Craig Hewitt, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker from Chatsworth High, is among three men’s volleyball players who recently signed letters of intent with Northridge.

Tim Dvorak from Fresno Bullard High, and Joel Fihn, from San Marcos, also have committed to play for Northridge. Both are 6-foot-5 middle blockers.

Andrew Lorraine of Hart High was roughed up Sunday in his second outing in the Sunbelt High School Seniors All-Star Baseball Classic in Avon Park, Fla.

The left-handed pitcher, who is bound for Stanford, pitched the only shutout in the six-team, four-day tournament, blanking Maryland, 7-0, on Friday. But on the final day he allowed four hits and three earned runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief in a 9-4 loss to Florida.

In 9 2/3 innings in the tournament, Lorraine allowed three earned runs on six hits and struck out 16.
