Washington Capital defenseman Scott Stevens has signed an offer sheet with the St. Louis Blues worth $3 million over three years, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The offer would make Stevens, 26, the NHL’s highest-paid defenseman.
The Capitals have seven days to match the figure and retain Stevens, who has 429 points and 1,628 penalty minutes in 601 games over eight NHL seasons. He became a free agent July 1.
