BETTING WITH BOB : MAN VS. MICROCHIP
Well, I should have known better than to have a showdown with the computer in a turf race. I lost $50 Saturday when La Grande Affaire, my key exacta horse in the ninth, finished third. The computer made a $208 profit when its $20 exacta of Baldomero to Decora paid $268.
The computer, which has begun signing its predictions SURELOCK, now has made a profit on six of the last eight Hollywood Park cards--betting almost exclusively on two-turn turf races. More important, my $613.50 lead on June 27 has turned into a $66.50 deficit.
My bets today are $10 doubles from Going Easy in the first race to Showtime Lady, Bright Style, Gold Decor and Oh Marie in the second.
