Griswold and Called To Account will carry the high weight as they head a full field of sprinters in tonight’s $20,000-added Barbra B Handicap at Los Alamitos.

The main event spotlights 3-year-old and older horses stretching out to 550 yards. The feature is the 10th race on tonight’s 12-race program.

Called To Account, ridden by Ralph Seville, outdueled the recent Vessels Maturity winner in an allowance test earlier this season before going on to qualify for the Vessels Maturity with an impressive half-length score in his trial division.

The 4-year-old son of Count the Cash, trained by Tom Warren, bobbled at the start of the Vessels and never recovered, finishing 1 1/2 lengths behind Jazzing Hi. Seville notched a fourth-place finish in his most recent start in the Chicado V. Handicap on July 8 at Los Alamitos.

Griswold makes his sixth start in the 4-year-old ranks for trainer Dan Francisco. The son of Merridoc carries the highest earnings of any horse in the Barbra B with a career bankroll of more than $330,000. A good amount of that money was earned finishing second in the Golden State Futurity his first year on the track. Last season, Griswold won the Governor’s Cup Derby at Los Alamitos before finishing third in the Champion of Champions.

After checking in second to the ultra-quick mare Barbs Bounce in the Peninsula Championship this spring at Bay Meadows, Griswold took his bow at Los Alamitos with a third-place finish to Dashing Val in the Kaweah Bar Handicap.

Here’s the complete lineup for the 1990 renewal of the Barbra B Handicap: Nuencounter (James Lackey, 119), Griswold (Danny Cardoza, 122), Oh La Proud (Roman Figueroa, 119), Lucky Leinster (Henry Garcia), Cable Doctor (Alvin Brossette, 118), Movin Brown Jug (Ralph Pauline, 116), Good Attitude (Eddie Garcia, 118), Bedadoc (Kip Didericksen, 118), Merridocs Limits (Steve Treasure, 118) and Called To Account (Ralph Seville, 123).
