Boxing from the past and present and plenty of golf highlight the sports viewing choices on the final weekend before the start of National Football League preseason action.

NBC continues its popular look at classic moments in boxing history with a replay of the first Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier fight. The 1971 bout airs at 1 p.m. today on Channels 4, 36 and 39. The telecast also includes new interviews with Ali and Frazier.

In contemporary fights, Jeff Harding defends his World Boxing Council Light Heavyweight Championship in a rematch against former WBC titleholder Dennis Andries on “Wide World of Sports” at 4:30 p.m. today on Channels 7, 3 and 42; 3:30 p.m. on Channel 10.

On Sunday, Michael Carbajal, a silver medalist in the 1988 Olympics, challenges Muangchai Kittikasem for the International Boxing Federation Junior Flyweight Championship at 3:30 p.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42.

There is plenty of top golf action scheduled this weekend. Arnold Palmer and Gary Player lead the field for the British Senior Open. Channels 7, 3 and 42 will air delayed third-round action today at 1 p.m. (noon on Channel 10). Sunday’s final round begins at 1:30 p.m. on Channels 7, 3 and 42; 11:30 a.m. on Channel 10.

The largest purse in LPGA history, $1 million, has drawn the top women golfers to the LPGA Championship. Telecasts on Channels 4, 36 and 39 are at noon today and 11 a.m. Sunday. The PGA tour stops at Grand Blanc, Mich., for the Buick Open, with Channels 2 and 8 providing coverage at 1 p.m. today at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday’s men’s basketball finals highlight an extensive weekend of Goodwill Games action on TBS. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The 5:05 p.m. telecast also features women’s gymnastics and cycling. Other Goodwill Games broadcasts will begin at 12:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. today and 12:05 p.m. Sunday.
