From Times Wire Services
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. —
The Phoenix Cardinals waived rookie defensive lineman Mike Applewhite today, reducing their NFL preseason roster to 77 players--three under the league limit.
The 6-foot-2, 256-pound Applewhite was signed as a free agent by Phoenix in March out of East Carolina.
The Cardinals must trim their roster to 60 by Aug. 28 and then to 47 by Sept. 3--six days before their regular-season opener at Washington.
