Glendale Wins World Series Softball Title

Lindsay Parker threw a one-hit shutout to lead the Glendale Liberty League All-Stars to a 2-0 victory over Tallmadge, Ohio, on Friday in the championship game of the Little League Softball World Series Major Division (11-12-year-olds) in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Parker pitched in eight games during Glendale’s playoff drive and six were no-hitters.

Jamie DeTanna, Glendale’s first baseman, drove in the winning run in the six-inning game with a single in the top of the fourth inning.

In reaching the final, Glendale defeated the defending champion from Naples, Fla., as Parker threw a no-hitter in a 2-1 victory.

Glendale posted two wins over Tallmadge in the tournament, earlier recording a 6-4 victory behind pitcher Jennifer Conner.

Glendale also was represented in the Softball World Series Senior Division for 13-15-year-olds, but the Centennial League All-Stars were eliminated by Georgetown, 7-1, Friday in a semifinal game.

Glendale had lost to Georgetown, 1-0, in eight innings Monday before winning two games in the losers’ bracket.

Glendale beat Salem, Ohio, 3-0, and British Columbia, Canada, 10-2.
