Bodeau’s Gem Carries Astros
The Woodland Hills Astros cruised to a 5-1 win over the Anaheim Mets in a first-round game of the Orange County Baseball Assn. tournament behind the pitching of right-hander Jeff Bodeau.
Bodeau (4-2) struck out 11, allowed four hits and walked two in eight shutout innings for the Astros (36-14-2).
The Astros’ Bobby Hughes scored in the fourth inning on Randy Cooper’s triple, then Erik Martinez doubled in the sixth and scored what turned out to be the winning run on Billy Morris’ single.
Cooper and Adam Schulhofer each had two hits.
