A United Airlines Boeing 737-300 landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport this morning on just two of its three landing gear and none of the 107 people aboard were injured, officials said.

Flight 1257 from Oakland landed at 8:54 a.m., Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.

The 102 passengers and five crew members were safely evacuated, most of them through the emergency chutes on the twin-engine jetliner, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elly Brekke said.

The flight, which left Oakland about 7:30 a.m., was scheduled to land at Burbank Airport at 8:38 a.m., but when the right landing gear would not go down, the pilot chose to land instead at Los Angeles International because of its longer runways and United’s repair facilities, airline spokesman Alan Wayne said. The aircraft suffered “minimal” damage.

Federal investigators were inspecting the plane to determine the cause of the trouble.
