Woods, Booth Compete in Junior Tournament

The East team took a 9-6 lead on Saturday after the first day of competition in the American Junior Golf Assn.’s Canon Cup at the Lake Nona Golf Club in Orlando Fla.

The event matches 20 of the top junior girls and boys from the West against 20 from the East. Saturday’s competition consisted of four-ball matches with boys’ and girls’ teams in the morning and mixed teams in the afternoon.

Tiger Woods of Cypress and Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza played for the West team.

Woods and teammate Brian Bateman of Monroe, La., halved in their match with Stewart Cink of Florence, Ala., and Chris Couch of North Lauderdale, Fla.

Booth and her partner, Jeong Min Park of Alameda, lost to Stephanie Neill of Charlotte, N.C., and Stephanie Sparks of Wheeling, W. Va., 1-up.

The tournament concludes Monday.
