Bowling Green Pulls Away From Cincinnati, 34-20
George Johnson rushed for 108 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter Sunday, leading Bowling Green to a 34-20 victory over Cincinnati.
Johnson’s 30-yard run put Bowling Green ahead, 27-20, with 10:51 to play, and Cincinnati never threatened again.
Todd Powell’s second 41-yard field goal put Bowling Green ahead, 20-13, midway through the third quarter, but Terry Strong ran 17 yards for a tying touchdown with 1:20 left in the quarter.
Cincinnati got the ball back, but Paul Anderson was sacked and fumbled, turning the ball over on the Bowling Green 38-yard line. Four plays later, Johnson ran 30 yards for the go-ahead score.
