An 8-year-old boy was killed Tuesday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The boy, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP dispatcher Gary Kiger said.
About 6:30 p.m., a black Mercedes-Benz with an antenna on the back hit the child on Orange Avenue between Kalmia Street and Mission Road. It is unclear where the child was standing when the car struck, Kiger said.
The car was last seen on De Luz Road, and the CHP suspects his car might have sustained damage to its right front fender.
Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP at 268-2276.
