THE SIDELINES : Spaniard Wins Tour of Catalonia

GERONA, Spain —
Laudelino Cubino of Spain hung on to win the Tour of Catalonia cycling race today by four seconds, holding off countryman Marino Lejarreta on the seventh and final day.
Cubino covered the 668 miles in 26 hours, 8 minutes and 31 seconds.
Eric Breukink of the Netherlands and Per Pedersen of Denmark won the two sections of the last leg.
