LOCAL : City Proclaims ‘Free Kuwait Day’
Los Angeles proclaimed today “Free Kuwait Day” in a show of solidarity with Kuwaiti citizens in the United States who oppose Iraq’s invasion and occupation of their nation.
Donning red-and-white T-shirts bearing the message “Free Kuwait,” about two dozen Kuwaitis and local supporters joined in a ceremony on the steps of City Hall to receive a proclamation signed by Mayor Tom Bradley and members of the City Council.
“This is to send the message out that we are opposed to Iraq’s actions and that we sympathize with the cause of the Kuwaitis here,” Councilman Michael Woo said. “No people should be subject to takeover by another.”
