Santiago High School capitalized on six Los Amigos turnovers Friday night to win its first game of the season, a 23-7 homecoming victory at Garden Grove High School.

The Cavaliers (1-3, 1-0) took a 14-0 first quarter lead before Los Amigos (2-2, 0-1) could run one offensive play. Santiago took the opening kickoff and drove 68 yards in 13 plays with Alex Ripley scoring on a five-yard plunge and was on its way to the Garden Grove League victory.

Scott McGarrh recovered Derick Ragsdale’s fumble of the kickoff return on the Lobo 22-yard line and Santiago quarterback Mike Carrasco passed one yard to Kevin Gillian for the touchdown six plays later.

Kevin Devaney’s interception of another Siddall pass set up the last Cavalier score on a 17-yard run by Tom Terrones in the last minute of play. Garden Grove transfer Ripley led the Cavalier offense with 90 yards rushing in 24 carries while Noa Utu led the defense with three sacks for 36 yards and a forced fumble.
