PREP ROUNDUP : Santiago’s League Record Remains Perfect in Tennis

Led by the doubles team of Cyndie Lam and Van Nguyen, Santiago High School defeated Kennedy, 10-8, in a Garden Grove League girls’ tennis match Tuesday at Santiago.

Lam and Nguyen won their sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, as Santiago (9-1, 4-0) remained undefeated in league play.

In Angelus League tennis:

Mater Dei 10, Rosary 8--The No. 1 doubles team of Trisha Abe and Kim Conter won its sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, and Erika Asmuss won her singles sets, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2, for host Mater Dei (5-2, 1-0).

In Century League tennis:

Villa Park 10, El Modena 8--Tobey Wu won, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1, and Ashley Thurston won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, in singles for visiting Villa Park, which is 3-0 in league.

In Empire League tennis:

Los Alamitos 15, Esperanza 3--Stefanie Springosky and Meredith Valt won, 6-1, 7-5, 6-1, for visiting Los Alamitos (5-2, 3-0).

In Freeway League tennis:

Fullerton 14, La Habra 4--Loraine Lau, who won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, led a Fullerton singles sweep at La Habra.

In Orange League tennis:

Brea-Olinda 11, Western 7--Rachel Buenviaje won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for visiting Brea-Olinda (6-1, 3-0).

In Century League volleyball:

Canyon 3, Villa Park 1--Kori Dalbey had 23 assists as host Canyon (2-5, 1-0) won, 15-11, 15-13, 15-10.

In Empire League volleyball:

Cypress 3, Katella 0--Misty Hartung had 14 kills and Heather Lowe added 12 as host Cypress (4-3, 1-0) swept, 15-4, 15-3, 15-3.

Loara 3, El Dorado 1--Tracy Titus had 19 kills to lead Loara (6-1, 1-0) to a 15-5, 16-14, 8-15, 16-14 victory at El Dorado.

Los Alamitos 3, Esperanza 0--Luanne Petix had 10 kills and eight blocks to lead visiting Los Alamitos (6-2, 1-0) to a 15-11, 15-10, 16-14 victory.

Sunny Hills 3, Buena Park 0--Danielle Brown had six kills and three aces for host Sunny Hills (5-1, 1-0).

In Garden Grove League volleyball:

Rancho Alamitos 3, Los Amigos 0--Adriana Ramirez had five aces and served on 20 of Rancho Alamitos’ 46 points in the 15-10, 16-14, 15-11 victory at home.

La Quinta 3, Bolsa Grande 0--Kim Doherty had five kills as visiting La Quinta (6-1, 4-1) won, 15-6, 15-13, 15-7.

In Orange League volleyball:

Valencia 3, Magnolia 0--Amy Tamblyn had 14 kills and four blocks and Kristen Walker had seven kills as host Valencia (6-1, 1-0) won, 15-3 15-13, 15-5.

Corona del Mar 3, Saddleback 0--Kim Smith had seven kills for visiting Corona del Mar (10-1, 1-0) in a 15-1, 15-2, 15-2 victory.

Newport Harbor 3, Woodbridge 1--Tara Kroesch had 20 kills to lead visiting Newport Harbor to a 10-15, 15-9, 15-12, 15-11 victory.

In South Coast League volleyball:

El Toro 3, Dana Hills 0--Michelle Mauney had 10 kills for host El Toro (4-2, 1-0) in a 15-12, 15-9, 15-11 victory.

In Sunset League girls’ volleyball:

Marina 3, Edison 1--Cristin Rossman had 16 kills and seven blocks and her sister, Tricia, had 52 assists as host Marina (6-2, 4-0) won, 17-15, 15-10, 8-15, 15-9.

In Angelus League water polo:

Servite 9, Mater Dei 4--Brendon Reutebuch had three goals for host Servite. Goalkeeper Pierre Vieillemaringe had 13 saves for Servite (4-1, 1-0).
