PRO FOOTBALL REPORT WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Gray Activated; Dupree on Injured List

Share

As expected, the Rams put running back Marcus Dupree on the injured reserve list and activated cornerback Jerry Gray.

Gray missed the first three games of the season after injuring his knee in the Rams’ final exhibition game.

Dupree, saying a “whole lot” of him wanted to play as early as this week, added that he understood the move. He cannot practice with the team for four weeks, but can be around, strengthen the knee and learn the offense.

Coach John Robinson said that receiver Aaron Cox, who felt a twinge in his hamstring early in the week, will be re-evaluated today to determine if he can play Sunday. If he can’t, rookie Derrick Faison becomes the team’s third wide receiver. . . . With Gray back, former starter Mickey Sutton gets moved back to the fourth cornerback position, behind Alfred Jackson, who will come in when the Bengals are in a sure passing situation. But Sutton, if he isn’t deactivated, will return punts.
