Village Christian 35, Southern California Christian 14--Quarterback Mark Vail passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Crusaders at Brea-Olinda High.
Even though running backs Chad Everett and Rick Nickels and three offensive linemen were out because of injuries, Village Christian held the ball for 18:22 of the game’s first 24 minutes.
Junior replacement Myles Brown carried 29 times for 148 yards to lead a Crusader attack that gained 252 yards rushing. The losers were held to 77 yards on the ground.
