Veteran radio announcer Johnny Most, 67, whose gravelly voice became a legend to generations of Boston Celtic fans, has retired from the broadcast booth.
Most, who called the play by play for 37 seasons from “high above courtside” in Boston Garden, underwent a triple bypass operation last year and missed most of the 1989-90 season.
“It is only because of my health that I am forced to do this,” said Most, who joined the Celtics in 1952. “Unfortunately, I am no longer strong enough to do play by play or color.”
