Thousand Oaks 47, Simi Valley 6--Junior tailback Cory Bowen rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns in 17 carries to lead visiting Thousand Oaks.

The Lancers took the opening kickoff and went 66 yards in eight plays, with Bowen capping the drive on a five-yard scoring run. On Simi Valley’s first play from scrimmage, quarterback Tim Kirksey’s pass was intercepted by Jason Ybarra. Thousand Oaks drove 28 yards and scored on a three-yard run by fullback Greg Buchanan.

Ybarra finished with two interceptions and a six-yard touchdown reception, which gave Thousand Oaks a 34-0 halftime lead. Buchanan had 91 yards in eight carries.

Thousand Oaks scored in the second and third quarters on reverses of 25 and 28 yards by wide receiver Eric Houston.

Simi Valley (0-6, 0-3) scored with 34 seconds to play on a 15-yard scoring pass from Kirksey to Brian Balleweg. The score prevented Thousand Oaks (5-1, 3-0) from recording its third consecutive shutout.

Kirksey rushed 12 times for a team-high 51 yards and completed nine of 22 passes for 87 yards. He threw three interceptions.

Thousand Oaks rushed for 399 yards and five touchdowns.
