Rooker Leads Trabuco Hills Over Century

Ben Rooker of Trabuco Hills High School scored two touchdowns to lead the Mustangs to a 34-0 victory over Century in a Pacific Coast League game Friday night at Tustin High.

Rooker, a 6-4, 225-pound running back, rushed for 71 yards in 14 carries for Trabuco Hills (4-4-1, 3-1 in league) over the hapless Centurions. Century (3-6, 1-3) was held to 62 yards rushing and Centurion quarterback Stacy De La Monte completed two of 11 passes for nine yards.

Trabuco Hills’ sophomore Pat Barnes shared quarterback duties with senior Shane Weintraut. Barnes completed four of six passes for 119 yards while Weintraut was six of 10 for 79 yards.

Rooker scored the Mustangs first touchdown five minutes into the first quarter on a two-yard run that capped a 73-yard drive. Kicker Jason Teno’s extra point was good, giving Trabuco Hills a 7-0 lead.

Rooker scored again with 3:37 left in the second quarter on a five-yard run as the Mustangs’ took a 21-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Barnes hit Nick Pavaroff on a 48-yard pass play to increase the Mustangs’ lead to 27-0.
