PREP PLAYOFF ROUNDUP
In 3-A Division water polo playoffs:
Edison 11, El Rancho 4--Todd McClung scored six goals and Matthew Schacht had 14 saves and shut out El Rancho in the second half to lead Edison (18-8) at Golden West College.
Marina 9, Cerritos 8--Marina led, 9-5, with 2:43 to play, then held on to give Coach Dave Pickford his 200th career victory.
Glendale 11, Servite 10--Cameron Price had three goals for Servite (10-5). In 4-A Division girls’ volleyball playoffs:
Marina 3, Downey 0--Jaime Wehrhan had 10 kills and five aces and Cristin Rossman had 10 kills to lead host Marina (13-4) to a 15-8, 15-8, 15-8 victory.
Esperanza 3, Edison 0--Julie Greer had 18 kills and 10 blocks to lead Esperanza (8-7) to a 15-12, 15-11, 15-8 upset.
Cypress 3, Long Beach Poly 2--Heather Lowe had 18 kills and six blocks to lead Cypress (14-3) to a 15-8, 15-5, 9-15, 15-17, 15-9 victory. Setter Patricia Davis had 10 aces for Cypress, which scored 25 points when she was serving.
In 1-A Division girls’ volleyball playoffs:
South Hills 3, Orange Lutheran 2--Renee Wright had 10 kills for Orange Lutheran (11-8) which lost, 15-17, 15-12, 15-8, 11-15, 15-2 in its first 1-A appearance and its first playoff in eight years.
