Cherry Leads No. 3 Morse to Victory Over Mt. Miguel

SAN DIEGO — Darnell Cherry scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds to lead No. 3 Morse (2-1) to a 59-40 nonleague victory over host Mt. Miguel Thursday. Also for Morse, Jaamar Lavender scored 13 points and Edmond Jackson added 11. Mt. Miguel (3-1) was led by Danny Rivera with 16 points. Morse led, 29-22, at halftime.
In other nonleague games:
Poway 75, Patrick Henry 28--Kirk Hipple scored 16 points and Frank Garrett scored 14 for No. 4 Poway (1-0). Poway jumped to a 44-18 halftime lead, outscoring Patrick Henry (2-3) in every quarter.
Army-Navy 82, Vincent Memorial 74--Center Phil Parks scored a game-high 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help host Army-Navy (4-2) come back from a 45-41 halftime deficit.
Vista Tournament
Carlsbad 80, Orange Glen 61--Chad Nelson scored 19 points for Carlsbad (1-0). Carlsbad led, 34-24, at halftime.
Laguna Beach Tournament
Torrance 64, Fallbrook 62--Chris Miller scored 21 points for Fallbrook, who outscored Torrance 30-21 in the fourth quarter.
Elsinore Tournament
Chaffey 74, El Camino 73--Jeff Reeves led El Camino (0-1) with 30 points and Sean Scurry added 22 points.
James Waldal Tipoff
Torrey Pines 87, CETYS 32--Torrey Pines (1-0) was led by John Allred’s 17 points and 11 rebounds. Craig Brown scored 11 points and Kyle Campbell added 10 for Torrey Pines, which led 49-11 at halftime. CETYS dropped to 0-2.
Greblo Memorial Tournament
Ramona 90, Bloomington 79--Alfonso De La Nuez scored 31 and Clint Cook scored 30 to lead Ramona (2-0).
San Diego Small Schools Invitational
Marian 52, Francis Parker 36--Beto Martinez scored a game-high 21 points to lead Marian (5-1). Francis Parker is 1-4.
La Jolla Country Day 69, Rincon Valley Christian 42--Jason Boyle scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead La Jolla Country Day (4-1). Rincon Valley is 0-3.
