Burbank Wins High Desert Title
The Burbank Bandits capped a perfect season with a 16-14 victory over the West Los Angeles Falcons in the championship game of the High Desert Football League.
The Bandits built a 13-0 lead early in the first half Sunday but the Falcons scored twice in the second quarter to take a 14-13 halftime lead. But with seven seconds remaining, Carlos Majilla kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Bandits the victory.
Burbank (13-0) had beaten the Falcons, 26-7, during the regular season.
Quarterback Ed Blount, a former Washington State standout, passed for 321 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Burbank.
