There’s Still Time to Contribute for Baskets, Parties for Needy

Share

Today is the last day to drop off food to the Ecumenical Council at 10005 Cole Road in Whittier for its Christmas baskets. The organization needs cans of pumpkins, yams and cranberry sauce, as well as stuffing and desserts and other food.

Today is also the last day for getting toys and baked goods to the United Cambodian Community in time for the annual Christmas party. Organizers ask that any gifts be wrapped and dropped off at the First Methodist Church at 507 Pacific Ave.

Friday is the deadline for donating toys to the Salvation Army at 455 E. Spring St. in Long Beach and at 7926 Pickering Ave. in Whittier. The Whittier drive is especially short on toys for babies and toddlers.

The Long Beach Police and Fire Department’s Christmas for Needy Families drive will accept gifts at city fire and police stations during the weekend. Families need blankets, clothing and toys for older children.

And Lakewood’s Project Shepherd is still accepting gifts for children at Lakewood City Hall, 5050 Clark Ave.

This is just a partial listing of local charities.
