San Clemente High School’s boys’ basketball team won a coin toss Friday morning with Dana Hills and advanced in the championship round of the San Dieguito tournament, where the Tritons lost to Concord DeLaSalle, 59-38, in a semifinal.

A coin flip was needed to determine which team would advance after tournament officials failed to notify Dana Hills Coach Rich Skelton that a quarterfinal game with San Clemente on Thursday had been switched from 7:30 to 5:30 p.m. because of construction on Carlsbad High’s gymnasium.

“The game is officially ‘no contest’ with neither team winning or losing,” Skelton said.

Newport Harbor 52, Dana Hills 46--Huy Nyguen scored 16 points to lead Newport Harbor, which outscored Dana Hills, 10-2, in the third quarter. Justin McIntee had 13 points and 14 rebounds for Newport Harbor.
