STOCKTON — Terrell Lowery hit a three-point basket at the buzzer to lift Loyola Marymount to a 91-90 victory over the University of Pacific in a nonconference game Thursday night.
The Lions, ending a four-game losing streak and a season-opening 10-game trip, never lead in the second half until Lowery connected with time running out.
Lowery, a junior guard from Oakland Tech High who entered the game with a 29.4-point scoring average, finished with a game-high 28 points.
The Lions improved to 3-7.
Pacific, which had won three consecutive games, dropped to 4-5.
A drive by Lowery with 49 seconds remaining tied the score, 88-88.
It looked as if Pacific had won the game when junior guard Dell Demps hit a jump shot with four seconds remaining for a 90-88 lead, but Lowery and the Lions weren’t through.
Demps led the Tigers with 23 points and reserve forward Randy Lavender added a career-high 21.
Loyola’s next game is Saturday night at 8 against St. Joseph’s at Gersten Pavilion. It is the first of six consecutive games at home.
The Lions play LaSalle Monday night at 9 in a game to be televised by ESPN.
