PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Viloria Scores Four Goals as El Toro Girls Win Twice

Shawn Viloria scored four goals in two El Toro High School victories Thursday to help the Chargers advance in pool play at the Ocean View girls’ soccer tournament.

Viloria, who has 20 goals this season, scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Villa Park and twice in a 4-0 victory over Bolsa Grande. El Toro (14-0) is the defending Southern Section 4-A champion and is ranked No. 1 in the division.

El Toro will play Edison at 8:50 a.m. today in the quarterfinals.

In other Ocean View tournament games:

Edison 4, Cypress 0--Chelsea Williams, Jinell Martin, Erin Bailey and Michelle Kaping scored for the Chargers.

Edison 0, Esperanza 0--The Chargers advanced to the championship bracket because they defeated Cypress in a previous game by one more goal than Esperanza did.

Mater Dei 1, Capistrano Valley 1--Julie Moreau scored to give Mater Dei a 1-0 lead.

Mater Dei 3, Santa Margarita 0--Katie Ward scored twice and Katie Parham once to lead the Monarchs (7-2-2).

In nonleague girls soccer:

Sunny Hills 6, Anaheim 0--Heidi Gugler and Stacy Thurber each scored twice and Rhonda Partita and Kelly Ward once for Sunny Hills (9-0).

In the Damien boys’ soccer tournament:

Mater Dei 3, Royal 1--With the score tied, 1-1, Milo Mills scored with five minutes remaining and Bud Masterpolo scored with 30 seconds left as the Monarchs became the first team to defeat Royal, ranked third in Division 4-A, this season.

Claremont 3, Mater Dei 0--Josh Parrott scored twice and Justin Long once for Claremont (10-0-1) in a semifinal.

In pool play of the Fountain Valley boys’ soccer tournament:

Newport Harbor 2, Dana Hills 1--Bryan Mallin scored in the first half and Joey Perez on a penalty kick in the second for Newport Harbor.

Newport Beach 2, Huntington Beach 1--Shane Perluss and Jim Hicks scored for Newport Harbor. Laguna Hills 2, Palos Verdes 1--Juan Strutton scored two goals--his ninth and 10th of the season--for Laguna Hills.

Laguna Hills 2, Arlington 1--Julio Montes and Giuseppe Lombardo scored in the second half for Laguna Hills.

Marina 1, Canyon 0--Chris Yannelli scored and Larry Nye had six saves in his fifth shutout for Marina (7-3).

Santa Margarita 3, Santa Ana Valley 1--Jerome Pierce, John Bamford and Steve Feeney scored for Santa Margarita.

Santa Margarita 3, San Clemente 3--Samuel Garcia scored his second goal of the game with four minutes remaining to tie the score, 3-3, but Santa Margarita advanced to the winners’ bracket.

Santa Margarita 3, San Clemente 3--Gus Garcia scored twice and Scott Brooks once for San Clemente (1-6-2). Josh Keller, Jerome Pierce and Tim Markell scored for Santa Margarita.

In the Foothill girls’ soccer tournament:

El Dorado 3, Fountain Valley 0--Tami Baglien, Briana Yoshina and Leslie Marsh scored for El Dorado (9-0-3).
