Chula Vista Tournament

Hilltop 67, Mira Mesa 47--In the second round of play, three of Hilltop’s five players scored in double figures. Courtenay Brown scored 27 points and had nine rebounds and Carlos Munoz had 11 points and 10 assists for Hilltop (4-7).

Mira Mesa’s Ryan Cunningham (21 points) was the only player on his team in double digits. The Marauders dropped to 6-5.

Redondo Union 70, Oceanside 47--Derek Gonzales and Ron Grim, with 10 points apiece, were the only scorers in double figures for Redondo Union (8-4). Oceanside fell to 3-6.

San Dieguito 78, Chula Vista 69--Matt de la Pena’s game-high 33 points and teammate Sean Howard’s 25 points and nine rebounds for San Dieguito (5-4) overwhelmed Chula Vista, who got only 18 points from its leading scorer, Jerome Green. Donnie Edwards pulled down 10 rebounds for Chula Vista (6-5).

Helix 74, Crawford 39--Helix’s Lloyd Lake and Crawford’s Kadir Nelson both scored 25 points, but Lake got a little more offensive help. Jason Falconer had eight rebounds to go with his 11 points for Helix (7-4). Crawford dropped to 2-5.

Canyon Tournament Vista 56, Anaheim 55--Chris Johnson hit a three-pointer with 30 seconds remaining to put Vista (4-5) up by two. Anaheim got the ball and sent a player to the free-throw line. He made the first shot and missed the second and Vista got the ball back. With nine seconds remaining, a Vista player went to the line and missed the front end of a one-and-one. Anaheim then missed a shot at the buzzer. Johnson had a team-high 17 points, Nils Michals added 15.

Anaheim Tournament

Agoura 89, San Marcos 49--San Marcos scored two points in the first quarter and trailed Agoura 46-8 at halftime. Mike Carins scored a team-high 12 points for San Marcos. Agoura’s Sean Martin led all scorers with 25.

Ramona Roundball Tournament

Ramona 63, Houston-Alaska 59--Ramona (4-2) trailed, 47-38, with 6:44 to play. After Houston’s Tavis Allam fouled out, Ramona climbed back into the game. With 4:08 to play, Alfonso De La Nuez made a steal and passed to center Travis Knight, who hit a layup to tie it at 51. Then Ramona’s Todd Dick made a steal, was fouled and connected on one of two free throws to put Ramona up 52-51. Ramona never trailed again. Knight led all scorers with 28.

Castle Park 54, Calipatria 46--Benji Gil scored a game-high 22 points to lead Castle Park.

Sweetwater Tournament

San Diego 81, Montgomery 42--Marino Bowman scored a game-high 20 to lead San Diego, which outscored Montgomery 31-9 in the first quarter.

Sweetwater 88, Mar Vista 56-Melvin Rushing scored a game-high 29 points to lead Sweetwater. Brandon Tennant added 21 for Sweetwater.

Kearny 70, St. Augustine 56--Demetrius Brown scored 15 to lead Kearny, Darnay Scott added 13.

Mt. Carmel Tournament

Mt. Carmel 69, Madison 51--Dana Pope led Mt. Carmel (9-0) with 16 points. Hooney Kim scored 16 for Madison.

Antioch 40, Rancho Bernardo 16--Bill McMahon and David Santos had six apiece for Rancho Bernardo, which scored only four points in the second half.

USDHS 59, Burroughs 54--Eric Barajas scored a game-high 24 points to lead USDHS. Dave Silva added 15 for USDHS (5-2). Rich Mulloy led Burroughs with 18.

Coast Christmas Classic

Riordan 70, Morse 64 (OT)--At Chapman College, Jamar Lavender and Darnell Cherry contributed 18 and 16 points in a losing effort. Morse was outscored, 8-2 in the overtime period.

Fisher Memorial/Point Loma Tournament

Poway 71, Helix 34--Kristen Carlson led a Poway (6-1) barrage with 10 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots, while teammate Kara Berg had a game-high 22 points. Helix dropped to 3-2.

Point Loma 49, Chula Vista 38--Robin Wainwright scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Pointers.
