COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Reyes’ 17 Points Lead Chapman

Frantz Reyes scored 17 points in Chapman College’s 50-47 victory over Humboldt State in the first round of the Chico Tournament Friday at Chico.

Reyes was seven of nine from the field and three for three from the line. Rog Middleton was the only other Chapman player in double figures with 10 points. Chapman (8-5) plays Texas A&I; at 9 tonight for the tournament title. Chapman, which led at the half, 28-23, shot 61.1% (22 of 36) in the game and attempted no three-pointers.

In the Christ College Irvine Tournament:

Christ College Irvine 79, River Forest 60--Brian Hazelwood scored 16 to lead Christ College Irvine (6-8), which plays Concordia Portland at 8 tonight in the championship game.

In a nonconference wrestling match:

Cal State Fullerton 21, Central Oklahoma 20--Heavyweight David Jones won a major decision worth four points in the final match to give Fullerton the decision. He defeated Fay Barnett, 16-5, for Fullerton, which trailed, 20-17. It was the second consecutive match in which Jones has scored a major decision to give Fullerton a one-point victory.
