SANTA ANA : Man Fatally Shot Near Busy Street
An unidentified man was fatally shot Sunday in the front yard of a vacant house on a busy Santa Ana street, police said.
The man, who was described by police only as a Latino male, was found sprawled on his back on the walkway in front of 1633 W. McFadden St., Sgt. Jack Rife said.
A large crowd of curious neighbors gathered outside the police tape late Sunday as detectives searched the area near the body with a metal detector and interviewed possible witnesses.
Several neighbors said they had heard three shots at about 7:20 p.m., came outside and found the man dead in front of the house.
Police said they had no motive for the killing and no suspects. Rife said there was no weapon recovered at the scene.
He added that police were investigating why the man was at the house, which appeared to be vacant and had a For Rent sign on the lawn.
