Oceanside
Bruce Dunne, who worked his way up through the ranks over 24 years, was named Wednesday as Oceanside’s new chief of police.
Dunne, 47, had been serving as acting chief since November, succeeding Oliver (Lee) Drummond, who resigned after loosing the support of a City Council majority.
In announcing Dunne’s appointment, City Manager John Mamaux said: “There was no need to look outside the department for a chief because we already had someone who is highly qualified for the job.”
Dunne, born and raised in Carlsbad, has worked in nearly every assignment and in all of the Police Department’s divisions.
