LOCAL : Mother Accidentally Kills Girl, 3

A motorist backing out of her driveway in the Firestone area accidentally ran over her 3-year-old daughter, who died of the injuries this morning, authorities said.
The woman backed her pickup truck out of the family driveway on Plevka Avenue about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, unaware that her daughter had followed her from the yard where she had been playing, sheriff’s Lt. Gene Hetzel said.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at the address before paramedics and drove the child to Martin Luther King Jr. Drew Medical Center, where a medical team was standing by.
But the girl, who had recently celebrated her third birthday, died at about 1:30 a.m.
